Positioning Methods

Positioning methods in HR-pQCT

Optimized immobilization is necessary to acquire high-quality images and ensure repeatability for data analysis. This done with a combination of casts and holders, provided by the manufacturer, and foam wedges to reduce motion during imaging.

Metacarpophalangeal Joints should be positioned < 10 degrees flexion in order to get consistent measures of joint space width. Read more here.
